These two linked courses critically examine the role and responsibilities of a manager in a statutory social care setting.

Day One considers the structural aspects of team design and function, and the operation of systems in a team.

Day Two examines the skills necessary to a management role, and the factors which promote or impede the development of a well functioning and efficient team.

The course considers the application of the psychodynamic model to relationships in the workplace.

The course aims to give Managers an insight into how unconscious motives impinge on team dynamics. From this, to use the knowledge and understanding gained to build and maintain effectively functioning teams.

The supervision of social workers in stressful, busy and challenging environments requires a high level of competence. This course challenges senior and supervising social workers to develop their skills by updating their knowledge and reflecting on best practice.
